5 Steps To Securing Brand Loyalty

Dave Kerpen CEO of Likeable Local recently spoke at our Annual Global Convention in Miami and gave this quote. “You know what’s cooler than reaching thousands of people on social media? Reaching the right 100 people who will become your most loyal customers.” Think about this for a second! As business owners, we spend countless hours and dollars trying to attract the right people who have a need, want or desire for our products and services. The question is… Are we really?

With a multitude of social media platforms at our disposal, strategies and tactics coming at us left, right and centre, how do you know which is the right one for your business? Are you targeting the right people in the right place? More importantly, are you telling the right story to the right crowd?

As a Digital Marketer I speak monthly with dozens of business owners just like you, who tell me that they’re working Social Media for engagement, branding and lead gen. We have thousands of Facebook followers, we tweet 3 times a day but where are my results? I don’t see the fruits of my labour. Fantastic I say, but are those 1000 followers your ideal client or are they just along for the ride? It’s true isn’t it, just because I might have thousands of followers who stuck due to a few catchy promos’ I ran, how many of them are really interested in what I’m selling? Truth is, probably not many!

By definition, brand loyalty is when consumers become committed to your brand and make repeat purchases over time. Brand loyalty is a result of consumer behaviour and is affected by a person’s preferences. Loyal customers will consistently purchase products from their preferred brands, regardless of convenience or price. In theory, it’s easier to sell to someone you’ve already done business with, rather than trying to acquire new business. So how do we as business owners achieve this level of preferential commitment from our customers?

Well here it is! Our 5 steps to securing brand loyalty are as follows.

Step 1) Get to Know Your Customer Better                          

It’s a pretty simple concept, no matter what industry you’re in: the more you know about your customers, the better you can serve them.

Step 2) Prepare Your Story                                                    

Find out where your most loyal followers hang out online, tailor your story to whatever channel you’ll be presenting it on, and set it free to engage with people the way they want to be engaged.

Step 3) Personalize, Personalize, Personalize                  

These days, you need to personalize your marketing messages on a more granular level. In 2015, you just can’t get away with casting a wide net and hoping for the best. That’s lazy marketing and it won’t work.

Step 4) Quality and Consistency                                        

Great content still wields so much power, so whether it’s blogs, whitepapers or videos, make sure you have a goal in mind before you start.

Step 5) Encourage Feedback

If you’re able to master the skill of listening – easier said than done in life and in marketing – your audience will tell you everything you need to know about your brand and its products and services.
